The WAT4 is an 84mm unguided, portable, single-shot recoilless smoothbore weapon built by Saab Bofors Dynamics of Sweden and used by militaries around the globe, most notably, by the United States Marine Corps, under the designation M136 AT4. It may be considered a cheap, one-time-use alternative to the Carl Gustav recoilless rifle.

Insurgency[]

The AT4 is a rocket launcher featured in Insurgency.

It has a large area of effect that can be utilized to soften concentrations of enemies or force enemies out of advantageous position. AT4s cost 5 supply points to equip and only carry one round, making it a high risk/high reward weapon. AT4s can be used for anti-infantry or anti-structure purposes. However, it takes two blasts to destroy a cache, and while a direct hit can destroy the cache in one shot, the rocket's lack of stability makes it difficult to land the shot at a range suitable to avoid blast damage. This makes it a relatively impractical choice for cache destruction.

Trivia[]

Insurgency

  • It is not recommended to use the AT4 to destroy caches. As most caches are found in buildings, firing within a building may result in an unexploded ordinance or suicide.
  • The AT4 comes preloaded and does not need to be manually loaded upon first selection, unlike its counterpart, the RPG-7. Instead, the trigger safety is needs to be unlocked.
  • Due to there being no correct model for the AT4 projectile, it instead fires RPG-7 projectiles.
