WC-4 or Composition C-4 is a common variety of the plastic explosive family known as Composition C. It is composed of RDX, plastic binder, plasticizer, and a marker chemical to identify its source.

It is 1.34 times as explosive as TNT and has been used since the 1960s when it was developed.

Insurgency[]

The C4 is an explosive featured in Insurgency.

It is specifically designed for the destruction of weapon caches, but can also stand in as a thrown explosive with a large area of effect, ideal for flushing out areas with a high concentration of enemy forces.

The C4 can also be planted on walls and objects by holding down the aim key (Default: Mouse 2). This allows players to set up traps or to increase the accuracy of their attack.

The C4 is best used for traps and defensive measures. While it has power to clear out entrenched enemies, its slow throwing animation and the fact it must be detonated remotely, gives enemies chance to shoot you more easily before you can activate it. Its usual to also kill yourself with it as its effect radius can carry trough walls. However in defensive purposes it is very effective, as attaching it well to wall next to door or to good place on floor makes it hard to see by enemy. Its also great way to defend objective. As you can detonate it anywhere, you can place it into good spot and when enemy comes to objective (especially very small capture areas) simply blow it up.

Performance[]

The C4 performs nearly identical to the IED.

+
  • Large area of effect
  • Able to destroy caches
  • Can be planted on a floor, ceiling or on the ground.

  • Short Throw Range
  • High supply point cost

Insurgency: Sandstorm[]

Trivia[]

  • Prior to the September 10, 2014 patch, the Insurgent faction also used the C4 as their main explosive. It has now been replaced by the IED on the Insurgent faction.
