The WRPG-7 (Russian: Ручной Противотанковый Гранатомёт, Routchnoy Protivotankovy Granatomiot; English: Hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher) is a Soviet portable, reusable, unguided, shoulder-launched, anti-tank rocket-propelled grenade launcher designed in 1961, and is the successor to the RPG-2.

The ruggedness, simplicity, low cost, and effectiveness of the RPG-7 has made it the most widely used anti-armor weapon in the world. Currently around 40 countries use the weapon, and it is manufactured in several variants by nine countries.

Insurgency[]

The RPG-7 is a rocket launcher featured in Insurgency.

It costs 5 supply points to equip and only carries one round, making it a high risk/high reward weapon. RPG-7s can be used for anti-infantry or anti-structure purposes. However, it takes two blasts to destroy a cache, and while a direct hit can destroy the cache in one shot, the rocket's lack of stability makes it difficult to land the shot at a range suitable to avoid blast damage. This makes it a relatively impractical choice for cache destruction.

Performance[]

+
  • High damage radius
  • Longest range of all explosives

  • High supply point cost
  • Long draw and arming time
  • Heavy weight

It should be noted that the weapon's rockets come out of the actual barrel, and not directly out of the iron sight's line of sight. While aiming down the iron sights above cover, users should make sure the barrel of the RPG-7 is above the cover as well, or else the rocket will collide with the cover and explode, likely killing the user and friendlies around them. Even if the iron sights suggest that the line of sight is clear, players should be aware of their surroundings so that they do not accidentally kill themselves with the weapon.

Trivia[]

Insurgency

  • It is not recommended to use the RPG-7 to destroy caches, as most caches are found in buildings, firing within a building may result in an unexploded ordnance or suicide.
  • The RPG-7 must be loaded when first selecting it from one's inventory upon spawn, unlike the AT4.
