The L85A2 is a bullpup assault rifle part of the 5.56x45mm SA80 family of rifles. Its predecessor, the L85A1 was manufactured by the Royal Small Arms Factory of the United Kingdom until production ceased in 1994. In 2000, modifications were made to some of the A1 rifles by Heckler & Koch, creating the A2 variant. The most notable modification was the introduction of a comma-shaped cocking handle, which doubled as a shield to aid in the deflection of ejected casings.
