The M16A2 is a 5.56×45mm assault rifle first used by the United States Marine Corps before being adopted by the United States Army. It is the predecessor of both the M4 Carbine and the M16A4. Like the M16A4, the M16A2 omits the use of automatic fire in exchange for a 3-round burst setting.
